“For more than a year, Gov. Kate Brown called our teachers heroes because it was politically expedient to put the teachers’ unions on a pedestal and grant them every political bargaining chip they demanded,” declared Jason Dudash, Oregon state director of the Freedom Foundation.

“Now that the political winds have changed against teachers’ union leaders, Kate Brown is holding the teachers hostage: either get the COVID vaccine or risk losing your job.

“We at the Freedom Foundation don’t merely give lip service to teachers,” continued Dudash. “We actually do think teachers are heroes and their personal health decisions should be respected and accepted.

“We entrust teachers with our children and we should trust them to determine the healthcare options that best suit them and their families,” said Dudash.

“These mandates are deeply condescending and the teacher’s unions that claim to represent school employees are failing these people. The only way to hold these unions accountable is for teachers and school employees to resign their union membership and allow the Freedom Foundation to represent them.

“The governor’s order is itself anti-science because there is no consideration for natural immunity, which has been proven far superior than any vaccine,” concluded Dudash. “This is about control, not about health care.”
