“It’s been four years since the landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Janus v. American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), and the importance of the decision becomes more pronounced each year.

“AFSCME, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the country’s two largest teachers’ unions funnel their members’ money into left-leaning political campaigns than any other donors — regardless of the wishes or political affiliation of those who actually earned it.

“That’s because the unions’ purpose is to grow government programs, hire more government employees and take more money from those employee paychecks to increase their own power.

“These union bosses live lavishly off the backs of everyday public employees, and that’s why they’ve worked so hard during the past four years to prevent their members from learning how Janus affirmed that they can no longer be forced to financially support a union as a condition of employment.

“But the word is getting out and momentum is building. The Freedom Foundation is proud to have helped more than 117,000 public employees stop paying dues, and our national education campaign has saved public employees nearly $210 million that would otherwise have gone into government union coffers.

“The unions are doing everything they can to suppress their own members’ freedom, from refusing to accept certified mail to forging signatures on membership forms, but we are singularly committed to helping every government employee understand and exercise their God-given rights.”
