Public employees usher in a new era of independence for Garden State

The month of June set ablaze a wildfire of change throughout the Garden State. As the summer heat intensified, so did the determination of public employees to liberate themselves from unions that no longer even pretend to serve their best interests.

During the month, a whopping 171 public employees stood up and courageously opted out of their union memberships, adding fuel to the opt-out fire we’ve seen raging over the past few months in New Jersey. With each mailing, the Freedom Foundation ensured that thousands of CWA NJ members were informed and empowered to make their own choices.

Adding fuel to the fire, the Freedom Foundation launched a series of mailings to Communication Workers of America New Jersey (CWA NJ) members, delivering a crucial message about the upcoming opt-out window imposed by CWA NJ on July 1. This effort led to a groundswell of dissent that reached a spectacular crescendo.

Of the 171 public employees who chose to reclaim their autonomy in June, an astonishing 114 were former CWA NJ members.

With each mailing, the Freedom Foundation ensured were informed and empowered to make their own choices. The mailings served as beacons of hope, providing helpful information about the opt-out process and highlighting the impending July 1 deadline.

Public employees received these enlightening materials, recognizing that they held the key to their own liberation.

As the days in June ticked by, an opt-out ambassador – a dedicated public employee who had already reclaimed his freedom, offered a piece of inside information. The ambassador provided valuable insights into CWA NJ’s latest bargaining failure, further fueling the dissatisfaction among members. The Freedom Foundation swiftly took action, seizing the opportunity to send an email to CWA NJ members at the last moment, explaining the bargaining failure and emphasizing the upcoming July 1 opt-out date.

The impact of these efforts was undeniable. The collective voices of public employees opting out of CWA NJ echoed through workplaces and communities across New Jersey. They refused to be mere pawns in a broken system, demanding genuine advocacy and tangible results. The surge of 114 former CWA NJ members opting out exemplified the deep disillusionment and frustration within the union’s ranks.

United in their quest for better representation, these brave individuals sparked conversations, transformed mindsets, and inspired others to question the status quo. The movement gained unstoppable momentum, captivating the hearts and minds of public employees throughout the state.

The Freedom Foundation stood by their side, empowering them with knowledge and support, ensuring they were equipped to exercise their rights fully.

June was an extraordinary month, marking a turning point in the fight for independence among public employees in New Jersey. The surge of opt-outs from CWA NJ and across the state sent an unequivocal message: public employees were taking charge of their lives, refusing to be silenced any longer. The flames of empowerment burned brighter with every opt-out, illuminating a future where individuals were heard, represented, and valued.

As the scorching summer ahead unfolds, the unions that have taken their members for granted will feel the heat. The excitement and triumph of this movement will continue to shape the labor landscape of New Jersey and inspire public employees nationwide to reclaim their power.

The Freedom Foundation, fueled by the spirit of autonomy and dignity, stands ready to support thousands more opt-outs from New Jersey in the coming days. Together, public employees will reshape the narrative, forging a future where their voices are heard, and their rights are fiercely protected.
