Jewish Teacher and Longtime Union Member Speaks Out About UTLA’s Antisemitism

Los Angeles, CA—On Monday, March 10, oral arguments will be heard in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in a lawsuit filed by seven Los Angeles teachers against the United Teachers of Los Angeles (UTLA). The case, supported by the Freedom Foundation, alleges a history of antisemitic actions by the union and unconstitutional forced association.

Amy Leserman, a current teacher who was a member of UTLA for twenty-five years, courageously speaks out about her experience in a union that openly supports antisemitic actions. In a video released today by the Freedom Foundation, she details the union’s support for a terrorist organization and reflects on the hostile environment Jewish teachers face within UTLA.

Leserman describes feeling the weight of contempt and fear as the union endorsed actions that “literally” put her life at risk, calling out UTLA’s support for terrorist groups that have targeted Jews. “An organization that is organizing to kill us—literally,” Leserman asserts.
